W2: "The Day I Woke Up with a Superpower"

I would never believe in superpower or magic, because I know these will not happen in real life, it only happens in movies or comics.

But the day I woke up, everything changed. When I woke up, my head felt dizzy and heavy, it was a strange feeling that I never had before. As I sat up and rubbed my eyes, a sudden vision flashed before me. I saw myself tripping over my baggage and falling to the floor. Few minutes later, the scene in my mind started to play. I tripped and fell exactly.

My heart was pounding. I am thinking what just happened? Had I imagined it? Is this a coincidence? As I reached for my phone, another vision popped up in my mind again, I saw my father calling me and it was exactly ten seconds. I counted down, and right on time, my phone rang, it was my father.

Then, I realized that I have a superpower, it is I could see the future.

At first, I was over the moon, I began testing my superpowers, as I started to predict the right answer in exams, what my friends would say, when the bus would arrive and started to avoid embarrassing moments. Everything was right and accurate. It was amazing and fun, it made me feel like I had unlocked a powerful secret power that others could not have.

But soon, the vision that I could see made my blood run cold.  On the weekend evening, while I was having dinner with my family, another vision appeared in my mind. I saw a car accident near my school. In my vision, a black car did not obey the traffic rules and it crashed into a motorbike. When the scene ended, I didn’t want to believe it, but I knew it was real.

The next day, I warned my best friend, Sofia, who always took the road home. I begged her to take other roads back. She thought I was weird, but she listened. I knew I could not tell her now. In the evening, the accident I had seen in my vision really happened and was reported by the news. It was that black car and the crash scene. If Sofia had taken the usual road, she would have been involved.

For the first time, I realized that knowing the future was not exciting anymore. It was not fun for the prediction, sometimes it was painful. On that day, my visions became stronger, I started seeing arguments and accidents. I have tried to warn people but they don’t believe me or think I was crazy for watching too many movies. No matter what I did, the future always played out the same way.

Then, I became more cautious about what I said. My friend started acting differently around me. My parents noticed my strange action too, but I never told them the truth.

One morning, I had a terrifying vision. I saw that my mother was crying when she was reading a letter. I didn’t know what the letter was, but I knew it was a bad news. I wanted to change the future, but I did not know how. Should I tell her or keep the secret?

I decided to keep the secret and focus on the mailbox for any bad news. But the day arrived, my mother opened the letter, she was down in the mouth. It was a letter from her company. She had lost her job.

Afterwards, I understood that seeing the future does not mean that I could change it. No matter what I did, it still happened.

I stopped trying to control everything that I could see in my vision. I couldn’t stop bad things from happening, but I could prepare for it. Something good happens, I feel pleased about it.

I learned to live with my power and no longer fear it. I think that the future is not meant to be changed, it is meant to be understood. Everything has been arranged by destiny.
