W1:“If Time Travel Was Real: My First Adventure"
I had always thought about time travel but I think having it once is just enough for me.
On a weekend morning, I was walking in the park, then I saw a mysterious old man dropping a bag beside a rubbish bin instead of throwing it. His strange behavior caught my interest and curiosity, so I waited for him to walk away. Then, I opened it carefully and was surprised to find a ring. On the ring, it was engraved with a dinosaur pattern. As a curiosity, I slipped the ring onto my finger and gave it a slight twist.
After the slight twist, I heard a sharp “click.” Suddenly, the world around me began to spin, before I could react, everything went dark.
When my vision was clear, I realized that I was no longer in the park—I had traveled back to the age of dinosaurs.
I could feel the air was thick and humid, and it carried a scent of woody fragrances. The jungle floor was deeply shadowed by many towering trees that were high above me. There were lots of ferns and rocks surrounding me.
Then, I continued walking forward, I could hear the sound of buzzing insects and rustling leaves.
It was larger than I had thought. It has a muscular body and is fully covered in thick, scaly skin and its powerful legs shook the ground with every step. As its huge jaws opened, I could see its sharp teeth, and suddenly there was a roar.
My legs felt frozen in place. The T. rex started to use his eyes to scan the area, searching for movement and predators. My heart pounded loudly and I knew I needed to get out of here as fast as possible.
I started to walk back away slowly. My hands trembled as I reached for the ring on my finger, this is my only hope of escape. Just when I thought I had moved far enough, my foot snapped a branch beneath me.
The sharp “crack” echoed in the jungle.
The T. rex heard it and its head snapped toward me. Then, it took an earth-shaking step and rushed towards me.
I turned and ran away as fast as lightning. While I was running, there were some vines tangled around my legs, slowing me down, but I continued pushing forward. The ground trembled beneath me with each step that the dinosaur’s took. I could hear its heavy breathing and its powerful legs moving closely towards me.
As I ran, I felt something slip from my hand. When I looked down, the ring was gone! I was sure that I had dropped it while running. Without the ring, I had no way to return home. Anxiety surged through me, but I knew I had no choice. I had to go back and get the ring.
By taking a deep breath, I changed direction and ran toward the spot where I had dropped it. The T. rex roared furiously and started to chase me. I ran faster than I ever thought possible.
Finally, I spotted the ring near a fallen log, but the T. rex was only a few steps behind me. I dived forward to snatch up the ring just as the dinosaur lunged at me.
As I took the ring, I twisted it quickly.
The world around me started to spin and I could feel a powerful force pulling me backward through the time.
When I was awake, I found myself lying on the grass in the park. I could feel my body trembling from fear and exhaustion. My clothes were full of dirt and leaves. The ring was still on my finger and its surface was slightly warm.
I sat there and tried to process what had just happened. I couldn't believe that I had seen a real living dinosaur and almost been trapped there forever.
Then, I pulled the ring off my finger and placed it back inside the bag. After having a last glance at the ring, I carefully threw the bag into the rubbish bin and walked away.
Some adventures are better left in the past or having once is just enough.
